About Epicentre

Epicentre is a seven-phase initiative that brings together churches, businesses, and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada for 10 months to engage, challenge, and minister to both Christian and non-Christian youth. With a focus on teaching Christian youth how to share their faith with friends, Epicentre provides opportunities for young people to understand and develop a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Epicentre is different from other conferences. Working with young people in a community for almost an entire year gives us a chance to inspire and impact them long after the enthusiasm of a typical weekend-conference wears off. After all, a good relationship usually takes time to develop. Our commitment to ‘going the distance’ in developing relationships with the youth gives time for long-term Bible study and faith reflection—sometimes through the highs and lows young people face during the course of the year. Building a support system between the youth groups and their church leaders also provides opportunities with long-term results. Knowing such support exists is critical for young people when they step out and share their faith with friends and family.

Epicentre provides materials and training to church and Christian ministry leaders that will continue to impact the community’s young people long after we are gone. The relationships between different churches are also greatly improved. Even businesses and other ministries are able to come together for the common good of seeing the youth in their communities impacted in a positive way.

Phase One: primal fuel

Church leaders select youth from their congregations that exhibit gifts of leadership. These youth attend group and one-on-one training sessions about leadership and evangelism and exercise these skills throughout Epicentre. BGEAC's goal is to help local churches develop young leaders that can support and grow existing ministries to reach young non-believers when Epicentre is over.

Phase Two: hallofuzion

To kick start Epicentre, churches invite their youth to come together for a night of worship and a call to evangelism. Students are challenged to refocus their lives on Jesus and to participate in Epicentre.

Phase Three: transition

If your church left the community, would people notice? This phase is all about transitioning from just talking about Christ's love for people to acting on it. It's about loving our community with practical and tangible service projects throughout Epicentre that helps the community transition into a better place to live.

Phase Four: gravity

In three sessions, Christians will examine their faith, author their personal story, and learn how to connect with non-Christian friends to effectively talk about Jesus.

Phase Five: event horizon

In four sessions, youth invite their non-Christian friends to explore the Christian faith through concerts, dynamic presentations, biblical teaching, and small group discussions. [Materials used in these sessions will also be made available to youth pastors and leaders for future use in their own churches].

Phase Six: ignition

An electrifying night of music, celebration, and the proclamation of Jesus Christ is the perfect place to try out Epicentre's evangelism training. Christian youth are encouraged to invite their peers to this dynamic concert to begin the faith conversation.

Phase Seven: global velocity

This is all about putting Jesus' love into action around the world. On this trip, youth will apply what they have learned about sharing and living out their faith in another context and culture. It's about moving globally-seeing leaders and students released into missions.
